May 18, 2015 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —Grand Rapids Community College President Dr. Steven C. Ender announced today that Kathryn Mullins has been appointed vice president for College Advancement and executive director of the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation.

In addition to the foundation responsibilities, Mullins’ portfolio will include grants, communications, marketing and graphics. She has been with GRCC since 2004 and most recently served as executive deputy to the president and liaison to the board of trustees.

“This new position will tap Dr. Mullins' proven leadership skills," Ender said. "She will be an invaluable resource to the foundation's mission of equipping our students to meet the needs of the community and the world."

Prior to coming to GRCC, Mullins spent 10 years working in K-12 administration. She received associate and bachelor's degrees from Baker College and eventually earned an MBA in leadership studies from Baker College and a doctorate in community college leadership from Ferris State University.

"I am very excited to begin this important work and look forward to serving our students and our community in this new role," Mullins said.

The GRCC Foundation has assets of more than $30 million and awarded $574,143 in scholarships during the 2013-2014 academic year. In addition to student scholarships and grants, funds are provided each year for instructional improvement and staff professional development efforts.

Grand Rapids Community College has been offering educational opportunities in West Michigan for 100 years. Established in 1914, the college offers degree courses, certification and training programs, and workshops and personal enrichment classes. Offerings are held on GRCC’s downtown Grand Rapids campus, and at several locations throughout Kent and Ottawa counties, as well as through distance learning.
