The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Welcomes New Board Members in 2016 And Further Enhances Its Recognition in Asia Pacific

HONG KONG, CHINA - Media OutReach - Dec 21, 2015 - The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), an organization dedicated to upholding best practices in professional publishing, held their 33rd Annual General Meeting. SOPA is delighted to announce the election of seven new board members.
All board members voted in favor of re-electing Mr. Raymond Warhola (Executive Director, Asia Pacific, China Daily) as the Chairman (since 2014-15), who will serve as Chairman for a second term.
"It is a pleasure to welcome the new SOPA board for 2016. As we enter our 34th year, SOPA's commitment to excellence is evidenced in an increasing range of initiatives that protect freedom of the press, promote best business practices, support and encourage child literacy, and recognize and celebrate the highest standards of journalistic integrity. The annual SOPA Awards for Editorial Excellence continue to serve as the gold standard for outstanding journalism in the region." said Mr. Warhola.
Mr. Simon Chu (Director of Operations, Financial Times) and Ms. Lillian Kung (Bloomberg Media) was re-elected as Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary respectively.
The new board members are
- Ms.Inez Albert (Digital Sales Director, Asia Pacific, The Economist Group)
- Ms. Jacquelyn Drozdoff (Corporate Communications Director, Asia Pacific, The Wall Street Journal Asia)
- Mr. Alex Ko (General Manager-Business Department, Ming Pao Newspapers Ltd.)
- Ms.Serene Lee (Executive Director, Forbes Asia)
- Ms. Jane Lewis (Sales and Marketing Director, Thomson Reuters Hong Kong Ltd.)
- Ms. Helena Phua (Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, New York Times)
- Mr.Richard Santoro (Director, Digital Sales APAC & EMEA, WSJ & Barron's at Dow Jones)
Ms. Serene Lee (Executive Director, Forbes Asia) is based in Singapore. SOPA believes her participation on the board not only brings insight and knowledge of media practices in Singapore, but also enhances the recognition of SOPA in Southeast Asia.
The SOPA Executive Board 2016 re-elected board members are Ms. Desiree Au (Publisher, TimeOut Hong Kong), Mr. Michael Chu (Director, Group Marketing & Events, South China Morning Post), and Ms. Judy Fong (Regional Digital Sales Director, TIME and Fortune, Asia Pacific).
