LOS ANGELES (October 19, 2015) – Actor ERIC ANTHONY risks everything for friendship with his feature film debut in the new Christian action-drama feature film, KEEP THE FAITH, premiering on October 21, 2015.
KEEP THE FAITH chronicles the story of Timothy (Mychal Thompson), an ex-gang leader who comes to Christ years after the rapture and is persecuted in a Christian containment camp by his rival, a former drug dealer. Anthony steps-in as Timothy’s best friend ‘Shawn’, who finds himself taking critical risks in order to lend support and faith to his friend in need.
Anthony felt honored by the opportunity to work on the project, which comes from award-winning indie film writer/director/producer Choice Skinner under his Darkan Entertainment banner. Anthony adds, “Even at our first table read of the script, the chemistry and passion we all shared with one another was already so dynamic. I was in tears by the end of it.”
This Alhambra, California native wasn’t afraid to tap into his own personal struggles to add layers to the character ‘Shawn’. Anthony explains, “My relationship with the role is definitely genuine. When I first read the script, I immediately noticed the similarities in both personality and characteristics between ‘Shawn’ and myself. This allowed me to call upon a lot of my own experiences to help me justify the actions and choices of the character.”
Earlier this year, Anthony appeared in the debut of writer/director Wade Wilson’s theatrical production, “Inside the Mind of Me,” at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2015. This story of hope, about a young man named ‘Me’ who attempts to commit suicide and tragically falls into a coma, has earned a Spirit Award Nominated and the endorsement of GLAAD.
In addition, Anthony just wrapped his first lead role in the short film, TRANSITIONS, written and directed by Kelz Morgan. The film follows the story of a man, who was previously a woman, as he is about to confess this secret to his longtime female lover.
Up next, Anthony will appear in the indie feature, BEING BLACK ENOUGH, a film about what it really means to be Black and how stereotypes limit and destroy cultures.
