One of the released videos, set in Hamburg, Germany, shows a day in the life of Samir Turkovic, a young German who just finished his training to be a crane operator in DUSS Terminal. The terminal is part of the China-Europe Block Train, a project that stemmed out of the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative proposed by China in 2013.

Also known as the Modern Silk Road, it is the longest freight train route in the world, traveling more than 10,000 kilo meters along the Eurasia land bridge, shaving off 20 days from traditional maritime transport and at 80% less cost than air shipment. Not only does this train create enormous opportunities for the local businesses in the countries where it passes, it also has become a source of great job opportunities for people living along the route.

The China-Europe Block Train is one of the important points of the OBOR initative. OBOR is an attempt to boost trade and political relations between China, Europe, and Asia. Much like the active participation of the European Union in OBOR, China has also seen Malaysia as one of its leading active partners in the initiative.

Malaysia has a lot to benefit from the OBOR project as it will create tremendous opportunities in transportation, tourism, trade, and industrial development that in return will create more employment opportunities not only for Malaysia but also for the Belt Road countries.

With the China-sponsored Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (akin to the Asian Development Bank) and Silk Road Fund ready to finance belt-road linked projects, Malaysia will see the development of high-speed railways improving not only its provincial connections but also with Singapore for the transportation of goods. It will also see a boost in exports of Malaysian durian, halal products and bird's nest made by SME's to different parts of China, not to forget Malaysia's expertise, thus creating massive business opportunities for the Malaysian startups and established corporations.  This connection will also see an increase in leisure and business tourism that is also an important industry in the country.

The creation of more employment opportunities as evident with the China-Europe Block Train is also one of the greatest benefits of OBOR. A World Bank study states that for every $1 billion spent on infrastructure in a region, more than 100,000 jobs are created.

Samir is one of the many who has benefited from it and OBOR would like to see more people like Samir not only in Europe but also in Malaysia.
