First-Ever Collaboration Between Golden Melody Awards and Twitter Showcased Cpop Royalty To The World
- Written by Reporters
SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - Jun 29, 2016 - For the first-time ever, Twitter and the Golden Melody Awards worked together to bring the prestigious music awards ceremony to life for Chinese fans globally. Cpop lovers around the world followed @GoldenMelody's official Twitter and Periscope accounts to see all the action from the red carpet to the awards ceremony last Saturday in Taipei. To make it even more fun for Cpop fans worldwide, Twitter created its first-ever emoji for a Chinese music award show, so that any Tweet using #2016GMA or#華語流行音樂 automatically displayed the Golden Melody Awards logo after these hashtags.
Launched by the wildly popular Cpop artist Jam Hsiao (@JamHsiao0330) on June 23rd, the Golden Melody Awards emoji has been viewed over 13 million times on Twitter. The emoji will be live until the end of June to extend the fun conversations about the award show on Twitter:

Margot Ling (@margotling), Head of Media Partnerships for Twitter Greater China, said: "We were thrilled to promote the prestigious Golden Melody Awards via Tweets and Periscopes as it is a key part of our strategy to bring more Chinese-language content to Twitter. More now than ever, we are the live connection to Chinese culture by providing a global platform for Chinese creators and artists to connect with their overseas Chinese fans."
This was also the first time that Twitter's #Challenger360 booth appeared on the red carpet at a Chinese award show, capturing some exclusive celebrity videos for the world to see some of the fun at the Golden Melody Awards:
