HONG KONG, CHINA - Media OutReachAugust 21, 2015 - Fresenius Medical Care -- THE RENAL COMPANY reacted immediately to the disaster, donating vital medical supplies to local hospitals and medical centers.

On August 12 a massive explosion ripped through Tianjin port leaving behind a trail of death and destruction;  officials now state 114 people were killed in the blast, with many more being left injured and homeless.  Rescue efforts have been immediate but difficult, with many emergency staff and volunteers losing their lives in the process.

Fresenius Medical Care China has prioritized rescue efforts after the disaster and staff at the Tianjin office gave their time throughout the night of the explosion to register at all the hospitals and co-ordinate the donation of much-needed equipment.  As a result, the next day medical supplies totalling over RMB 1 million were rushed to Tianjin, including three advanced CRRT MultiFiltrate/Ci Ca machines; two of which have been used for the immediate relief of injured patients at Tianjin Fifth Center Hospital.  A further five acute devices were successfully transported to Tianjin on August 14. The MultiFiltrate/Ci Ca CRRT machines use advanced technology and are a vital lifeline to patients undergoing acute renal replacement/multi-organ support therapy as well as supporting patients with burns and other injuries caused in the explosion.
