The Arc of Buncombe County (TABC) is excited and sad to announce that Terry Bellamy, the Executive Director for the past four and a half years, accepted another community leadership position outside of the agency. Terry ends a successful tenure in which she developed new programs in health and wellness and helped strengthen and streamline the agency’s advocacy and case management services.  Her relentless championing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families has provided TABC with a new visibility and vibrancy in our community.  Terry leaves the legacy of a stronger and more focused organization and the Board of Directors of the Arc wish her all the best for her dedicated efforts.

As TABC enters the next chapter in its 57 year history, it is looking forward to the future. Partnerships with the North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Commission, the City of Asheville, Buncombe County and many others, have provided multiple opportunities for TABC to continue to expand and strengthen its services and impact.  With this time of transition, the Board of Directors will continue its strategic planning through the Community Foundation and the position of executive director will be reviewed and advertised later in 2015.  Board chairman, Al Whitesides, will act as interim executive director during this time and the general daily operations will see little change as the dedicated staff continues to serve the needs of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We are hopeful that you will join us for our Spring Fling on Wednesday May 6 from 6-9 PM at the Highland Brewing Company.  This event costs $35 and proceeds will support campers with a summer full of fun, opportunity and growth.  If you have any questions about this event or any other issue please contact Linda McDaniel at (828) 253-1255.
