"The Tsim Sha Tsui East Property Developers Association has been proudly organising the Tsim Sha Tsui East Festive Illuminations event to light up Hong Kong and bring joy to our fellow citizens for 35 years," Mr Yau said. "To mark this important milestone, the Association has adopted 'Love 35th Anniversary' as our theme for this year. We hope the lights of Tsim Sha Tsui East can help to draw our spirits closer, and connect us all with love. In addition, the lights will provide a backdrop for our young people to show off their talent. With this event, we hope everyone passing through Tsim Sha Tsui East will feel blessed, filling Hong Kong with warmth and energy and helping to spread positive vibes throughout our society."

As part of the 35th anniversary celebrations, a special programme was organised for the Switch-on Ceremony. The excitement was kicked off with a drum performance by The Pegasus Vanguard, followed by a show choir from Yaumati Kaifong Association School. The Choir comprised members from different ethnic groups, reflecting the harmonious integration of people from different cultures and backgrounds. Renowned Hong Kong singer Mr Vincent Wong took the mood of the crowd to a climax with his hit song. Children from SDM Jazz & Ballet Academie had the audience tapping their feet with their lively dance moves while members of the record-holding Hong Kong Rope Skipping Club and InspiringHK Sports Foundation wowed the crowd. The hot night finished with the hot moves of professional Latin dancers.

For the first time, the illuminations on the waterfront curtain walls of Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre employ the use of innovative LED multimedia video walls to bring happy holiday wishes to Hong Kong. Together, the two video walls measure total area of 4,000 square feet and consist of 63,000 technicoloured LED lights. They will broadcast a cacophony of vivid, moving 3-dimensional images to captivate spectators and show the best of Hong Kong. Another popular spot for photo-taking will be the lighting display in Mody Lane showing a magnificent sea of snowflakes. The theme of the South Seas Centre decoration is Santa Claus with a dog, creating the playful and joyful ambience. Other highlights include Santa and a happy child riding a colourful, festive sleigh on the wall of Wing On Plaza, Christmas angels on the wall of the Royal Garden Hotel, lit up by over 2,000 LED bulbs, wishing passers-by a Merry Christmas, and a warm, glowing heart on the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel reaching out to embrace all holiday-makers with love.
